Clayton Loges - From Picking Fruit to Revolutionizing Oil Changes http://www.yodio.com/
Brief Description of Yourself:
I’m always looking for an opportunity to learn from situations I’m in and from people that I meet. I have a strong work ethic from my early childhood experience of picking fruit for my spending money and college funds (age 7-15). I began my post college career working for IBM then WaMU, then struck out on my own to be an entrepreneur. I’ve founded various companies – the largest grew to 800+ employees.
1) What do you believe makes you special or interesting?
I take pride in being among the very few who can turn a business idea into reality. Thus, I’m a serial entrepreneur motivated by making things happen.
2) What kind of effect have you had, or would like to have on the world?
I’ve been very active in many community and volunteer positions, and I’ve pioneered new industries.
3) What events shaped or changed your life?
Major influence was being elected student body president of my college.
4) Did you overcome obstacles - take risks - get lucky?
I overcame the limited social status of being a poor kid with a farming background. I’ve taken major career risks – I gave up a promising management position in WaMu to pioneer the ten minute oil change business.
5) What have you done that no one would guess you'd done upon first meeting you?
Founded and managed a rock’n roll radio station in St. Petersburg, Russia
6) What is still left to be done in your life?
Keeping my mind active and working to the very end. Currently, I’m busy with a new web service that anyone can use to record voice commentary and attach their voice to digital photos. The result is voice-narrated photo albums.
