What is it? This site is a great help for consumers who are victims of internet fraud or scams. You can file a complaint and it will be investigated.
Why Visit? This website is basically a consumer complaint form that can be sent to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Bureau of Consumer Protection. It’s pretty specific as to what type of claims should be submitted. The FTC says that it investigates complaints…..and that the information submitted is added to the Consumer Sentinel database - a secure, online database available to hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies worldwide. Some other nice features of this very compact site are: [1] an email address where you can directly send any Spam email you receive to a special commission; [2] a special complaint form for Identity Theft; and [3] a link to the Do Not Call Registry. If your claim is against an individual or company of a foreign country you are given a link to econsumer.gov, a site we also list, for cross-border online problems. All information that you give in the FTC form is safe because they use a secure socket layer (SSL) encryption to protect the transmission. This is a “Just the facts, M’am” site and it works exceptionally well.
