Felice Rhiannon - Brings The Gifts Of Yoga Practice To People
Visit Website

1) What do you believe makes you special or interesting?
I started practicing yoga in my 40s, always the oldest student. I fell in love at first practice and knew I wanted to teach yoga to people in my age group…baby boomers and even their parents.

So I began to train as a teacher and was visited by a genetic chronic condition that surfaced when I was 52. During the year I spent in bed or on the couch I created a yoga practice that took me from bed to floor to chair to standing. When I realized how beneficial the practice was I trained as a Yoga Therapist so that I could reach others living with chronic conditions.

2) What kind of effect have you had, or would like to have on the world?
I have brought the gifts of yoga practice to people in all physical conditions ranging from fit to wheelchair-bound. Many lives have changed because of the door that opened, the mind that calmed, the breath that became conscious and the body that responded.

I’ve written a book that specifically addresses yoga for this age group. I would like to reach even more boomers and elders, especially those who think they “can’t do yoga because they aren’t flexible”.

3) What events shaped or changed your life?
Living with a chronic condition has changed my life and my priorities completely. While this condition is not immediately life-threatening, it is always life-changing. To live life fully, deeply and consciously has become my top priority, giving love and care at every opportunity.

4) Did you overcome obstacles - take risks - get lucky?
I overcame the obstacle of this chronic condition and I took a huge risk to become a yoga teacher and therapist. Most yoga teachers are 30 years younger than I am, can do things with their bodies I can’t do and look much cuter in spandex than I do. But I know I have something else to give to my peers…a yoga that suits their needs.

5) What have you done that no one would guess you'd done upon first meeting you?
Lived in London and practiced acupuncture.

6) What is still left to be done in your life?
More of the same!
