Gail Sussman-Miller - Teach People How To Love http://www.InspiredChoice.com
1) What do you believe makes you special or interesting? I am what I call a Baby Boomer Mid-Life Bloomer. All after the age of 41, I found my perfect work in a profession that is designed just for me as a coach, I got married for the first time at age 46 and became a step-mom of 2 great kids.
I discovered that you don’t have to live for Fridays or feel trapped in your resume and can wake up just as happy and grateful any day of the week. I am a big fan of the Eckhart Tolle’s “A New Earth” and live my life consciously instead of on autopilot and hiding from feelings and not taking risks.
In the work I do, many find it fascinating that I help people learn how to love networking by helping them reframe this powerful activity and leverage what they already do well. I help them create a metaphor from an activity they love so they can network the way they cook, garden, travel, read, ski, or scrapbook, etc. I teach people how to love, period.
2) What kind of effect have you had, or would like to have on the world? I have empowered women solopreneurs to speak up in their businesses and in their lives to ask for what they want and to share their unique message. I teach women how to love obstacles, especially in marketing, so they can reach more people who need their special gifts.
My dream is to reach women by the thousands to help them be true to their nature and to use their feminine energy and wisdom to create more meaningful conversations and relationships… ultimately leading to more peace.
3) What events shaped or changed your life? Loosing my mom when I was 41 was a huge shock. It was as if I didn’t think it was possible and I felt very alone and moved through my grief more slowly perhaps than others.
At 2 years after her death, I did a powerful women’s personal growth weekend, Woman Within International, and that set a trail of life-changing events into play. I met and hired my first coach, without knowing what coaching was, realized I DID want to marry my then boyfriend of 5 years, got laid off after 13 years at a major consulting firm, and became a coach. This was my first foray into being an entrepreneur and I had no idea I had that ability or drive or creativity. Now I teach others how to tap into those skills, the passion and the joy.
4) Did you overcome obstacles - take risks - get lucky? The obstacles I’ve experienced in life are mostly in becoming a business owner later in life with no prior experience. I’m quite resilient yet I can get so distracted, afraid, and not take action or risk.
When I became a speaker, starting my first time at a Borders Store, I had huge fear. Since then my definition of risk keeps going up in levels of speaking to scarier audiences, creating my first product, speaking to my peers in May 2007, and going back into the corporate world to teach networking skills.
I don’t believe in luck as much as driving my actions from my desires and from genuine love for those I want to empower. That aligns my actions with a power that brings opportunities and what seems to be luck that is really synchronicities attracted by strong belief.
5) What have you done that no one would guess you'd done upon first meeting you? Marrying for the first time at age 46, sunbathing nude, teaching people how to network the way they play golf, read books, cook or garden!
6) What is still left to be done in your life? To create a powerful program that will reach thousands of women in business to help them succeed beyond their wildest dreams so they can create independence, freedom and joy that will inspire the next generation.
I want to continue working the rest of my life phasing into doing only what I love with plenty of extra time for my family and part-time living and travel in warm, fanciful places. I want to leave a legacy about what IS possible for women who access their courage and astound themselves.
