What is it?
The Gates Foundation Volunteering section contains Tips on Volunteering, Non-Profit Jobs, Volunteer Matching Sites, U.S. National Services Programs, International Programs, Days of Service, and Opportunities for youth, professionals, and those who are retired. The site also provides information on Global Development and Health, Volunteering in the United States, and information for Grant Seekers.
Why Visit?
Well considering that this website is run by Bill Gates, I'm surprised there are not any bells and whistles on this site. I'm also a little disappointed in the amount of content, but I will say that the content provided as well as the links to other sites is very good in an understated way.
This website will provide you with some basic information on the Gates foundation as well as numerous links to other sites where you can find information on volunteering opportunities. The site is nicely designed and laid out, but I thought there would be more content. However, the site does mention that because it funds the efforts of others rather than working in the field directly, it does not accept volunteers at the foundation, so apparently intends the site to be more of a referral.
Overall the site is very easy to use and navigate. There are many links that take you to other websites with a wealth of information regarding volunteering.
