What is it? If you want detailed information about national and state parks situated in the United States by region this is a one stop site to visit. It includes hiking trails, lakes, historical monuments and archeological sights that go beyond the state and national park systems so offers more than many other sites.
Why Visit? If you enjoy the outdoors and need a real get away, you may want to learn more about our state parks and national parks. As a bonus, this site also has a different perspective looking at the parks by regions not state by state as most sites do. It also includes regional sanctuaries, archeological sights, lakes, monuments and historical sights.
If you don't have time to explore a whole region - it even has week end sights and trails by city - just select the trail finders or city week ends. The map is interactive and your search can be as general as a whole southwest territory or as specific as a city.
This is a great site to just visit and take your time - plan on hanging out awhile here. The site does offer its own tours and e letters - you need to register for those, but it also provides a lot of helpful information to go exploring on your own. Nice to have both options!
