What is it? An interesting partnership exists between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) to investigate internet crime.
Why Visit? The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) website is a partnership that includes the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C). It gives you a place to file a complaint if you have been a victim of an internet crime. The purpose of IC3 is to investigate the complaint and forward it to the proper federal, state, local, or international law enforcement and/or regulatory agencies and they will then determine what course of action should be taken. On this site you also find information on the latest scams, how to protect yourself, a FAQ section where you can find out what happens after you file your complaint [as well as when you will receive a reply], and a Press Release section where you can read the latest IC3 news, and a Joint Initiatives page which tells how IC3 and other agencies are fighting internet crime. This is a neat site with a ton of information for those of us who frequently use the internet…..even if you are not a victim.
