1) What do you believe makes you special or interesting?I’ve overcome cancer, a house fire, and all kinds of obstacles and have created two multi-million companies even though. Been running my own business for 22 years (2 different businesses). I pioneered an entire new discipline in marketing research and am considered a leader in the obscure but important field of PR and Social Media Measurement.
2) What kind of effect have you had, or would like to have on the world? I started Seacoast Concert for a Cure to raise money for breast cancer research and survivor support (www.seacoastconcertforacure.com) 2 years ago.
I moved my business to Berlin, NH to create job opportunities in New Hampshire’s north country; I helped organize a single-handed sailboat campaign for a round-the-world race and helped write a book about it; I was part of a small team that launched the first HP LaserJet printer.
3) What events shaped or changed your life?My parents. My father was managing editor and then publisher of Fortune. My mother was editor-in-chief of Harpers Bazaar. I learned early how to negotiate between two totally different worlds.
4) Did you overcome obstacles - take risks - get lucky?I’ve survived cancer, a house fire, a lawsuit, and nearly losing my house to foreclosure.
5) What have you done that no one would guess you'd done upon first meeting you? That I’m a genetically unemployable serial entrepreneur who loves to drive hot fast sports cars
6) What is still left to be done in your life?Write a novel. I’ve already written a business book, and am working on another, but I really want to write fiction.
