The Eye Digest

What is it?
The University of Illinois Eye & Ear Infirmary - The Eye Digest. Discussion of eye diseases, aging and nutritional factors in preventing eye diseases.
Why Visit?
Our generation is fortunate to have seen many technological breakthroughs in vision care. Laser surgery has freed many of us from glasses and contact lenses. However, we need to be aware of and educated about the common eye conditions that become more likely as we age.
The Eye Digest (formerly “Aging Eye”) is a project of The University of Illinois Eye & Ear Infirmary, whose doctors and researchers have addressed eye care and diseases for over 150 years. The Eye Digest website provides free access to the latest medical information important eye problems such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts.
This site is very informative and highly authoritative. The site authors have obviously taken great pains to collect the best of current writings on eye conditions from the best publications. No advertising is allowed on the site, in order to maintain its credibility and high standard of unbiased analysis.
Visitors to the Eye Digest will find complete information on cataracts, macular degeneration, dry eye conditions, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. You’ll learn volumes about the latest research and treatment, as well as the signs and symptoms we need to be aware of as we age.
Ironically, my only negative reaction to “The Eye Digest” is the tiny type font used. Otherwise, it is attractive and relatively easy to use. The absence of advertising gives the site a scholarly quality, and I would not doubt the accuracy of any of the information found here.
