The Vegetarian Resource Group

What is it?
A guide to nutrition and vegetarian eating from the Vegetarian Resource Group.
Why Visit?
Most of us can remember a time when vegetarians were hard to find. The conventional wisdom used to be that a vegetarian diet was unhealthy – that it was difficult to get enough protein without eating meat. Well, one generation has changed all of that. The purpose of this website is to discuss vegetarian eating and nutrition.
The Vegetarian Resource Group (VRG) which publishes this site, is a non-profit organization which provides information on vegetarianism and related issues of health, nutrition, ethics and world hunger. The Senior’s Guide to Nutrition section of the VRG website covers the nutritional aspects of many health issues that are common to seniors. Stress is placed on the benefits of vegetarian eating for seniors’ health and longevity.
This site is informative, and its articles appear to be science-based and well-researched, but it could use a little updating. The presentation is pretty bare-bones, consisting of a long scroll-down page of information. The content is helpful, providing practical suggestions for ways to make a senior’s diet more healthy. Recipes and menu ideas are provided. Ways to eat to ease concerns such as digestive problems are discussed.
If you are concerned about your diet, (or if you know someone who is), and you’re interested in vegetarianism, this site could be worth a visit. If your desire is primarily to enhance your nutrition, you’ll probably get more help from some of the more extensive and sophisticated sites that are available.
