What is it? The World Waterfall Database website allows you to browse waterfalls by name, search the database, view in order of tallness, search by height value, and locate the world's largest waterfalls. Each waterfall description includes rating information on visual and absolute magnitude, BWR, and scenic rating. You can view pictures of the waterfalls as well as directions and maps to the location. There are physical descriptions of the waterfalls in both English and metric measurements.
Why Visit? I’m not what you would call a waterfall enthusiast, but I do enjoy them. Imagine my surprise when I found this site containing nearly 1,000 waterfalls across the world. It has categorized them in an orderly way so that you can locate waterfalls nearby, or across the world within a few minutes.
Be sure to check out the listing of the tallest waterfalls. The descriptions include pictures and maps to locate the waterfall should you decide you want to visit. I was surprised at how good the picture quality is. I found some rather breathtaking pictures and have planned a trip to a local state where there are 4 waterfalls. I thought we could make a weekend trip of it and enjoy something new along the way.
Overall this site is fairly well organized and easy to use. It may take a few minutes to locate the waterfalls in your state as there is not a sort by state or country option.
