Among the cars of Bugatti Type 57, 3.3-liter eight-cylinder car produced between 1934 and 1939 is the most notable. example of the work of Ettore Bugatti.
The Type 57 camshaft engine produces 130 horsepower and twice that was available from March 1934. During production of the Type 57 sports were some versions, namely, 57, 57C Type 57SC and very little. In total, about 725 of each model type 57 occurred.
The engine was a remarkable piece of engineering even by today’s standards. The one-piece crankshaft was pressure lubrication, while the double overhead camshafts were driven sprocket at the rear of the engine. The housing is cast aluminum pistons Bonalite invar spacer is installed in most cars.
The intake manifold mounted on the right engine has been changed several times during the design of the Type 57 was in production with significant improvements. The exhaust manifold is made from cast iron and is mounted on the opposite side.
The rear suspension uses elliptical Bugatti reversed quarter-elliptic springs semi in the front. The braking system was operated by cable, but towards the end of the production run in 1938 was changed to a Lockheed hydraulic system.
A1934 performance Type 57 was reported by the motorsport and reach 105 mph then …
“The 57S has a truly impressive performance is capable of 115 mph, which is very good for a sports car does not blow”
Faster than the cars were also fun to drive, even in traffic in London under the late Sir Malcolm Campbell, who, I suspect appreciated a little more maneuverability, acceleration, great brakes very powerful.
