Why Should I Sell My Car to Auto Salvage Companies?

Old vehicles sold into salvage yards often turn into what in the trade we call rebuildable cars. (BTW, the same applies to bikes, such as those you may have seen at motorcycle auctions.) Which mean one this for you: yes, that old piece of junk is still worth a few bucks.
So if you’ve got an extra car sitting in your driveway that can’t be driven anymore, then you can sell it to an automobile salvage company. These companies pretty much refurbish the cars you deem useless, and then sell them as renovated vehicles.
However, there are a few things that you should consider when you’re thinking about selling your car to get it salvaged. Make sure you know how much the car is worth in its current terminal condition. Then look through the market for people that may be interested in buying your inoperable machine.
To find out what your car is worth, you can find help from a variety of vehicle valuation guides. Some recommendations are the NADA Guide and the Kelley Blue Book – they give great insight on how to evaluate the worth of your car. Some factors of determining the value is the year of the make, manufacturer, and the condition your car is currently in. By using one of these guides, you’ll be given an approximation of the value of your car.
Once you’ve figured out the worth of your vehicle you can find potential buyers that live around you, or through the internet. Craigslist.com is a great way to advertise your vehicle, and is one of the most frequently visited sites for finding odds and ends – especially car parts.
Another option is to simply call an auto salvage company/junkyard. Those places are constantly looking for cars in poor condition. They would either refurbish these cars to resell them if the car isn’t irreparable, or they could take the car apart to sell the spare parts.
